Some Like it Hot Fashion Inspiration

In a similar fashion to Singin in the rain, also made in the 1950 and set in the 1920s, Some Like it Hot's fashion design is the 1950s Hollywood version of the 1920s. More sparkle and a lot more riskee.
The dress Marilyn wears for Runnin Wild is a typical late 1950s style but the length and the fantastic flapper frills, that move with her as she dances, give it the perfect 1920s touch. To recreate this look takes a little DIY by stitching or safety pinning tassels to the end of a black dress. Finish the look with a ukulele and long pearls.
The epitome of glamourous showgirl Marilyn, she smolders as she sings I wanna be loved by you in this mesh and gold sequin dress that leaves little to the imagination. Despite the riskee element of the dress Marilyn still looks classy. I have yet to come across a dress of this standard in a vintage shop but you can  emulate this look by choosing light colors, sequins and mesh. A sequined collar or cape or some DIY sequins on a dress will have you shining like Marilyn.

A black version of Marilyn's gold sequined dress shows a little less chest and has more emphasis on her back . This dress is given more of a 1920s look by adding beaded tassels. Re-create the look by adding some sparkle to a black flapper dress.
