Marilyn Monroe Hair

Marilyn Monroe, the beautiful platinum blonde bombshell, is by far the world's most famous blonde. Her platinum waves (tinted with a secret formula developed by hairstylist Gladys Rasmussen) became her trademark, along with winged liner, glistening red lips and a low-slung beauty mark. There were many variations to her hair style but it was always short, parted to the side and with plenty of volume or curls. Read on for some Marilyn hair inspiration, with video tutorials for long and short hair. Marilyn's hair styles were always sexy, fun and extremely glamorous so whatever your hair color is try one out. If you feel like treating yourself for Film Fatale's screening of Some Like it Hot in The Model Sligo this Friday we will have a vintage hair stylist in The Model from 12-6pm.

Some Like it Hot
Marilyn's hair in Some Like it Hot was a fantastic mixture of so many of her key looks. Mixing brushed out curls and volume,Marilyn also looked stunning with the back of her hair swept up in pins.

Classic Marilyn
Her most iconic hair style and the one famed by Andy Warhol's prints featured her with tight curls framed around her face.

Casual
Marilyn  would often wear a casual version of her classic look of by brushing out her curls or letting her curly hair sit naturally.

Bombshell
For glamourous roles and red carpet premiers, Marilyn had the ultimate blonde bombshell look down to a tee. She wore a more sophisticated version of her traditional style with longer more defined curls and more height at her forehead. This was often brushed out a little to add more volume. In keeping with the style of the 1960s, for  Marilyn's famous rendition of "Happy birthday Mr President" she went all out with volume. Her curls were replaced with straighter hair with plenty of volume. She still had the traditional side parting and raised hair line with both sides going in different directions but it was blow dryer in except for a long sweeping fringe which was flicked out for some va va voom!

1960s
Taking inspiration from the styles of the time Marilyn blow dryed her naturally curly hair straighter and created plenty of volume.
